Prof. Bhattacharya's research interests include the astrophysics of compact stars (white dwarfs, neutron stars and black holes), the structure and magnetic fields of neutron stars, cosmic explosions (novae, supernovae and gamma ray bursts), accretion-powered objects, X-ray astronomy and coded mask imaging.
