Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for Post-Doctoral Positions at IUCAA, Pune.The institute offers three categories of postdoctoral positions:

1. | Vaidya-Raychaudhury Post-Doctoral Positions: A very limited number of Vaidya-Raychaudhury Postdoctoral fellowships are awarded every year to candidates with exceptional CV and proven track record. The selected candidates are expected to carry out independent research of high quality, in area(s) of their interest. Vaidya-Raychaudhury Post-Doctoral Fellows with excellent performance may also be considered for a tenured position at IUCAA, Pune. |

2. | Regular Post-Doctoral Positions: A few Regular Postdoctoral fellowships are awarded every year to candidates who are expected to carry out independent research of high quality, in area(s) of their interest. |

Candidates who have submitted/defended their Ph.D. thesis and have excellent CVs are eligible to apply to any or all of the above categories.
Included Benefits:
Rent-free accommodation is provided on campus, subject to availability. Alternatively, a House Rent Allowance (HRA) is paid as per the prevailing rules of the Institute/ funding agency. Postdoctoral fellows can also avail of medical and other benefits as per IUCAA/Government of India norms. IUCAA also provides other on-campus facilities such as recreation and sports centre, medical and counselling services as well as childcare facilities.

Facilities at IUCAA include a network of state-of-the-art computers, high-performance computing clusters, high-speed internet connections, mirror sites of important databases, a very well-equipped instrumentation laboratory, and a library with an exhaustive collection of books and periodicals. IUCAA operates a 2 m optical telescope, IUCAA Girawali Observatory (IGO), at Girawali, which is about 80 km from the IUCAA campus.
IUCAA is a partner in the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT), which is a 10m class telescope suited for imaging and spectroscopic observations of faint and distant objects. IUCAA is a major participant in space-based Indian astronomy missions AstroSat and Aditya-L1, as well as in future projects, including LIGO-India and the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).
