Present:
Hi, I am Girjesh R. Gupta, DST-INSPIRE faculty fellow at Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune. My research includes various topics such as study of MHD waves and turbulence in the solar and astrophysical plasmas, solar coronal spectroscopy, diagnostics of the solar atmosphere and many others from the data obtained from AIA/SDO, EIS/Hinode, and recently launched Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS) and other space based instruments.
Past:
I completed my Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Astrophysics as a part of Joint Astronomy and Astrophysics Program of Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore under the guidance of Prof. Dipankar Banerjee in Solar Physics group at IIA in May 2011. My thesis was about the study of propagating MHD waves in the solar atmosphere and its role in the acceleration of fast/slow solar wind and in the heating of solar corona. In August 2011, I moved to Germany as post-doctoral fellow at Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Lindau and worked with members of Coronal Spectroscopy and Imaging (CSI) group.
Background:
My home place is Mulund in city of Mumbai of Maharastra state, India. I have
completed my school education upto 10th class in mulund and 10+2 in Bhandup. In 2003, I finished my B.Sc. from Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Ghatkopar affiliated to Mumbai University. I have completed my Master's degree in Physics from Department of Physics, IIT, Bombay in the year 2005. After that I moved to Bangalore to do my Ph.D. in the field of Astrophysics in August 2005.
